The International Women’s Day Celebration, ‘PENMA,’ was organized by the KSWDC Women Cell of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, in collaboration with All India Radio, Manjeri FM, on March 6, 2025, at the CH Auditorium. The event aimed to honor and empower women through discussions and cultural activities.
The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Suhada KM, followed by the presidential address by Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, Principal of the college. Mr. C. Krishnakumar, Head of Akashavani Manjeri FM, delivered the keynote address. Felicitations were offered by Manager O. Abdul Ali, Manjeri FM broadcast director-Mr. Muneer Amayoor, IQAC coordinator Dr. A.K. Shahina Mol, and Chairperson Ms. Fida.
Students actively participated in a very interesting and thought-provoking panel discussion that included three notable women from various fields: TV Sreekala Gurukkal (Kalarippayattu national coach and trainer), Ms. Sahla Parappan (first female cyclist from Kerala to Ladakh), and Dr. P Geetha (social worker and former professor). Their motivational speeches emphasised overcoming social boundaries, empowerment, and perseverance.
Cultural performances from the audience and students were also featured at the occasion. The Radio Club Coordinator, Ms. M.K. Vineetha, gave a vote of gratitude to end the broadcast. "PENMA" was a huge success, inspiring students and participants to be more self-reliant. The smooth operation of this motivational event was made possible by the cooperation with Akashavani Manjeri FM and the assistance of the college's Radio Club, Media Club, and IQAC.
