The Department of Botany at Korambayil Ahamed Haji Memorial (KAHM) Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, is a premier centre of botanical education and research, committed to academic excellence and scientific advancement. Established with the goal of imparting quality education in plant sciences, the department has grown into a full-fledged Research Centre affiliated with the University of Calicut. It plays a pivotal role in nurturing scientific temper and research aptitude among young women, aligning with the college’s broader mission of women empowerment through education.

Offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in Botany, the department provides a comprehensive curriculum that integrates classical botanical knowledge with contemporary scientific approaches. The B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes emphasize both theoretical understanding and practical exposure in areas such as plant taxonomy, physiology, genetics, microbiology, biotechnology, and environmental science. The department was recognized as a Research Centre by the University of Calicut in 2025, marking a significant milestone in its academic journey. It now hosts research scholars working on diverse areas of plant science, including plant-microbe interactions, phytochemistry, ethnobotany, conservation biology, and environmental sustainability. Faculty members actively engage in interdisciplinary research and have published in reputed national and international journals. Research projects funded by UGC, KSCSTE, and other agencies have contributed to the department's growing reputation as a hub for botanical research in Kerala.

In keeping with the spirit of scientific inquiry and social relevance, the department organizes seminars, workshops, field studies, exhibitions, and awareness programmes that foster environmental consciousness and scientific curiosity among students. Collaborations with other research institutions, universities, and governmental bodies enhance the department's academic vibrancy and expand opportunities for both students and faculty.

The Department of Botany also takes pride in its contributions to community-based projects and extension activities.
