Observance of Mental Health Day

On October 10, 2025, in observance of World Mental Health Day, the Wellness Club in association with the Department of Psychology organized a session on “Psychological First Aid” at Aryabhatta Hall. The resource person for the session was Mr. Aslam Siddiq, Director and Clinical Psychologist, Psyfos Centre for Mental Health & Wellbeing, Manjeri, who delivered an insightful talk on the importance of psychological first aid, its principles, and its practical application in providing emotional support during crises. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Maneesha K P, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology, and Ms.Ayisha Liya K P, First-year B.Sc. Psychology student, served as the student coordinator. The session was highly informative and engaging, creating awareness among students about the importance of mental health and the role of timely psychological support in promoting overall well-being.
As part of the same occasion, the Department of Psychology launched a new initiative titled “Opparam,” which aims to provide an open and supportive space for students to sit together and share their thoughts and experiences freely. The initiative was inaugurated by Mr. Aslam Siddiq during the event, marking a meaningful step toward fostering emotional expression, peer support, and mental health awareness within the campus community.
