“Changing the Narrative on Suicide.”
The Department of Psychology, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, observed Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, 2025, with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.” The programme, held at the college seminar hall from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, aimed to raise awareness about suicide prevention and promote mental well-being among students. The event began with a welcome address delivered by Ms. Maneesha K.P, Head of the Department of Psychology. The keynote address was given by the Chief Guest, Ms. Shaeza Mariyem Paravakkal, Chief Consultant Psychologist and Founder of Mindvibe, who spoke on the importance of breaking stigma, listening with empathy, and encouraging help-seeking behavior. The programme featured interactive sessions including an ice-breaking activity, storytelling, which created an engaging and hopeful atmosphere. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Raha Suhood C, Faculty, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, faculty, students, and organizers. The overall programme was successfully coordinated by Ms. Hamidha K.P, Assistant Professor, along with the support of student coordinator Ms. Fulva (I Semester B.Sc. Psychology).
