The Department of Malayalam at K.A.H.M. Unity Women's College, Manjeri, organized a program titled "Chalachithra Ganangalum Malayaliyum" on 28th January 2025 as part of the syllabus for the 2nd-semester Malayalam MDC students. The event featured Shanavas Malappuram, a renowned singer, writer, and teacher, as the chief guest. His insightful discussion on Malayalam music and cinema enriched the session, offering students a deeper understanding of the subject.
The program commenced with a warm welcome speech by Afeeha Sulthana, a 2nd-semester English student, who introduced the significance of the event and greeted the audience. Following this, Arifa Beegum, the Malayala Vedhi Coordinator, delivered the felicitation address, expressing gratitude to the chief guest and attendees for their presence.
Dr. Hikmathulla V, Head of the Department of Malayalam, then addressed the gathering, emphasizing the profound relationship between Malayalam cinema and its music. He highlighted how film songs have played a crucial role in shaping the linguistic and cultural landscape of Malayalam.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shifana, a 2nd-semester Psychology student, who expressed appreciation to the chief guest, speakers, participants, and everyone involved in making the event a success.
This insightful session provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore the rich heritage of Malayalam film songs, deepening their appreciation for the musical and cinematic traditions of Kerala.
