International Alumni Talk Series - 1 on “Career Choices and Global Opportunities in Family and Community Science”

The PG Department of Home Science organised the International Alumni Talk Series - 1 on “Career Choices and Global Opportunities in Family and Community Science” on 29 January 2026 at 2:30 pm in Aryabhatta Hall, conducted in hybrid mode through Google Meet. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about global career opportunities in the field of Family and Community Science and strengthening alumni interaction with the current student community.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Bushaira. V, Assistant Professor (Adhoc). The resource person, Ms. Famina Chukkan, Behaviour Therapist at the Atlanta Autism Center, USA, Anchor of the US Pravasi Channel, and an alumna of the BSc Family and Community Science (2003–2006 batch), shared her academic and professional journey and discussed various international career pathways. She highlighted the importance of skill development, higher education, and adaptability for global careers, and elaborated on career prospects in areas such as behavioural therapy, autism care, community services, and media engagement, emphasising the relevance of Family and Community Science education in global contexts. An interactive discussion followed in which students actively clarified their doubts. The session was attended by 130 students, around 30 alumni, and all faculty members of the department. The programme was coordinated by Lt. Loosiya. KP, Assistant Professor (Adhoc), effectively anchored by Ms. Nuha Kunhi Mohamed, II Semester MSc Home Science (Nutrition & Dietetics), and concluded with a vote of thanks by the student coordinator, Ms. Aysha Thamanna. The session successfully enhanced students’ awareness of global career opportunities, motivated them towards higher education and skill development, and strengthened alumni–student engagement by providing valuable international exposure and career guidance.
