Community Outreach Cottage Party

On 19th January 2026, as a part of the Residence Course practical of Family Resource Management, the 6th Semester B Sc Family & Community Science students celebrated their cottage party with the inmates of Shalommatha Bhavan, Manjeri, a  rehabilitation center for mentally ill and destitute women. The aim of the programme was to provide  hands-on experience in resource management, quantity cookery, serving and hospitality and to develop social responsibility. Using the savings obtained during the residence course, the students prepared evening snacks for the 60 women residing at Shalom matha Bhavan. The students visited the Bhavan at 4 pm and served the prepared snacks to the inmates. They spent quality time with them by sharing joyful moments,  singing and dancing. The residents also actively participated creating a happy and warm atmosphere. 
The programme helped the students to get first- hand experience in resource management inculcating empathy, teamwork, volunteering and community engagement.
