Alumni Talk Series (2025-26) - Session 3 “The Role of a Dietitian in Maintaining Health and Wellness”

The PG Department of Home Science organized the Alumni Talk Series (2025–26) - Session 3 on the topic “The Role of a Dietitian in Maintaining Health and Wellness” on 25th November 2025 at 11:40 am in Aryabhata Hall. The aim of the programme was to strengthen the connection between students and alumni, providing a platform for academic interaction, professional guidance, and real-world insights. The objectives included enhancing students’ understanding of the dietetics profession, creating awareness about the responsibilities of dietitians, and motivating students through alumni success stories. The session started with a welcome address delivered by Ms. Bushaira. V, Assistant Professor (Adhoc), PG Department of Home Science, who also highlighted the significance of the Alumni Talk Series in bridging students with alumni professionals. The resource person for the session was Ms. Noufiya Thasni. CP, Consultant Dietitian at Gracelynn Dietitian Service and alumna of BSc FCS (2017-20) and MSc Home Science - Nutrition & Dietetics (2023-25). She delivered an informative presentation on the role and duties of a dietitian, professional ethics, and effective client interaction. She also shared her journey from being a student to becoming a dietitian, which greatly motivated the students.
After the talk, students actively interacted in the discussion session and addressed their queries. A total of 63 students from III and VI Sem BSc FCS and III Sem MSc Home Science - Nutrition & Dietetics participated. The Manager, Er. O. Abdul Ali, along with faculty members of the department, also attended the programme. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the faculty coordinator, Lt. Loosiya. KP, Assistant Professor (Adhoc), PG Department of Home Science. The programme was anchored by the student coordinator, Ms. Fathima Rasha. K, VI Semester BSc FCS.
The outcome of the session was highly positive, as students gained a better understanding of career opportunities in dietetics, developed awareness about professional responsibilities, and felt inspired by the alumna’s experiences.
