The PG Department of Home Science of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri observed World Diabetes Day on 14 November 2025 by organizing a Diabetic Check-up Camp and Counselling Session in front of the Administrative Block. The programme was conducted from 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm with the objective of spreading awareness about diabetes, encouraging early detection, and promoting healthy lifestyle and dietary practices among the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.

A free Random Blood Glucose test was conducted for all staff members using a glucometer. Along with the testing, students provided brief counselling on diabetes symptoms, risk factors, preventive dietary measures, and the importance of regular physical activity. 
A total of  25 staff members participated in the check-up camp. The  seven participants (≥200 mg/dl)were self reported diabetic patients ,showing they have poor control of diabetes.This indicate the chances of impaired glucose tolerance. This distribution highlights the presence of significant glycemic risk in the community and emphasizes the need for continued screening and controlling for prevention and maintenance of diabetes.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Shahla K.,and Ms. Lasna A, Assistant Professor (Adhoc), PG Department of Home Science, and student coordinator Ms. Fathima Dilraz K.C., 3rd Semester MSc Home Science (Nutrition & Dietetics). Students from the MS c Home Science programme actively assisted in blood glucose testing, data recording, and nutrition counselling.
