The PG Department of Home Science, in collaboration with Korambayil Hospital & Diagnostic Centre, Manjeri, organized a session on “Management of Diabetes” on 13th November 2025 at Ellen Hall.
The programme aimed to create awareness about diabetes and highlight the importance of diet and lifestyle in its prevention and management.
The programme started with a welcome address by the coordinator, Dr. N.V. Fatimathu Zuhara, Assistant Professor and Head, PG Department of Home Science. After an introductory speech by Ms. Reshma C, Infection Control Nurse, an informative talk on “Management of Diabetes” was delivered by the Dietitian, Ms. Jasna Jabbar. She discussed the healthy eating habits, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures to manage diabetes effectively. During the interactive session, students clarified their doubts on the practical aspects of diabetes care and shared feedback.   Mr. Jyothish A, Quality Manager, Ms. Aparna, Dietitian and Mr. Pranav Sankar, PRO, Korambayil Hospital were also present during the event.
At the end of the session, a video was played featuring Dr. Johny Cheriyan N, Consultant Physician, delivering an insightful message on diabetes awareness and healthy living.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms.Muhsina, III Sem MSc Home Science (Nutrition & Dietetics). The student coordinator, Ms. Fathima Henna Palliyan, III Sem MSc Home Science (Nutrition & Dietetics) anchored the event.
The programme helped students to gain valuable information about diabetes management and encouraged them to promote healthy living in the community.
