The PG Department of Home Science, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, organized a Free Nutrition Camp on 26th September 2025 in connection with the observance of National Nutrition Month (Poshan Maah 2025). The camp, held at the college auditorium from 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm, aimed to promote awareness about health and nutrition among students and to encourage them to adopt healthier lifestyle practices.The camp was inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur. The program included blood group detection, BMI assessment, nutrition counselling, and an exhibition titled Physiovision. A total of 88 students underwent blood group testing and 188 students were assessed for BMI. Among them, 64.36% were in the normal range, 23.4% were underweight, 11.17% were overweight, and 1.06% were obese.The participants were also provided with one-to-one nutrition counselling, where they received practical advice tailored to their individual health profiles. The exhibition was a major highlight, featuring working models and visual demonstrations of human physiological systems. These models helped students to gain a clearer understanding of the functioning of vital organs and systems in the human body.The program was coordinated by the faculty members Ms. Bushaira V and Ms. Shahla K of the Department of Home Science, along with the student coordinators, Ms. Shifa Rinshi and Ms. Nuha Kunhi Muhammed of M.Sc. Home Science (Nutrition and Dietetics), and Ms. Absina Lincy K.P. of B.Sc. Family and Community Science.The camp successfully created awareness about nutrition, encouraged healthier lifestyle practices, and provided students with a better understanding of their health status.
