NutriBridge: Connecting Foundations to Future

The PG Department of Home Science organized the induction programme “NutriBridge: Connecting Foundations to Future” for first-year MSc Home Science (Nutrition & Dietetics) students from 6th to 8th August 2025 at Room No. B106. The programme aimed to acquaint the students with the department and provide them with a comprehensive insight into the field of Nutrition & Dietetics. It was designed to introduce the curriculum, research avenues, experiential learning opportunities, career prospects, and student support services available at the college.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and departmental overview by Dr. NV Fatimathu Zuhara (Assistant Professor), who introduced the faculty members and created an encouraging and inclusive environment for the new entrants. This was followed by Ms. Farsana Shirin K (Assistant Professor, Adhoc), who presented a detailed Curriculum Overview of the MSc Nutrition & Dietetics programme, explaining core subjects, electives and the academic framework.
Ms. Bushaira V (Assistant Professor, Adhoc) then elaborated on Research Opportunities in Nutrition & Dietetics, outlining current projects, research facilities, and potential topics for student engagement. The next session, led by Ms. Shahla K (Assistant Professor, Adhoc), highlighted diverse Career Paths in Nutrition & Dietetics, helping students envision possible professional paths after graduation.
Further, Lt. Loosiya KP (Assistant Professor, Adhoc) discussed Experiential Learning Opportunities within the field, emphasizing internships, workshops, field visits, and practical training experiences that bridge theory with real-world application. The final session was conducted by Ms. Lasna A (Assistant Professor, Adhoc), who introduced the Student Support Services offered by the college, including academic guidance, counselling facilities, and extracurricular activities designed to promote overall student well-being.
Through these interactive and informative sessions, students gained clarity on academic expectations, research prospects, experiential learning avenues, career possibilities and support systems equipping them to embark on their postgraduate journey with confidence and a clear sense of direction. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Farsana Shirin K (Class Tutor & Assistant Professor, Adhoc) and Ms. Risha N (I Sem MSc Home Science – Nutrition & Dietetics).
