POTHICHORU 2022-23

  • 20 Sep / 2022

Home Science is a socially committed course and, keeping this in mind, the department is happy to conduct many socially relevant programs. “Pothichoru” was implemented as a community welfare program with the motive of distributing “Pothichoru” to Shalomatha Bhavan, Cherani Manjeri. It belongs to the Franciscan Missionary Sisters Association. It is a home for mentally ill and destitute women. The age range of people who stay there is 30 to 95 years.  Every Tuesday, the students were asked to bring Pothichoru from their homes. It was distributed to the above-mentioned old-age home. An amount of 10 rupees was also collected from those who were not able to bring Pothichoru.

At the end of every year, daily grocery items as per the needs of the institution were brought and handed to the matron in the presence of students. And also the collected amount was used for the transportation of packed lunches from college to old age home. This opportunity was not only for the department students but also for nutrition club members and further extends to the other students of the college.  Ms. Bushaira. V, Assistant Professor Adhoc, PG Dept. of Home Science and Ms. Amna PK, student of II year BSc Family & Community Science were the faculty and student coordinators.
