POTHICHORU 21

Home Science is a socially committed course and keeping this in mind the department is happy to conduct many socially relevant programs. The “Pothichoru” was launched by clicking the logo by Jb. Munawar Ali Shihab Thangal (President, College Management Committee) in the Home Science fest held on March 2nd 2017. It was implemented as a community welfare program with a motive to distribute “Pothichoru” to Shalo Matha Bhavan. It belongs to Franciscan Missionary Sisters Association. It is a home for the mentally ill and destitute women. Presently 68 inmates are there. The age range of people who stay there is 30 to 95 years. Only five sisters and two supporting staff members are working there. Every Tuesdays the students were asked to bring Pothichoru from their homes. It was distributed to above mentioned old age home. An amount of 10 rupees were also collected from those who were not able to bring pothichoru.
At the end of every year, daily using grocery items as per the need of institution were brought and handed to the matron in the presence of students. The department gives this opportunity not only for the department students but also for nutrition club members and further extends to the students of the college.it is great privilege to announce that the home science department faculties along with the students is making this feeding programme a great success. This is an ongoing program. We would like to continue it forever.
