The world elder’s day celebrated on October 1 each year. The main aim of celebrating world elder’s day promotes the happiness of the elderly. The day is celebrated worldwide to examine issues, promote public awareness, and focus on which type of behavior can help older men and women all over their life. The celebration of world elder’s day thus maintains the importance of these elderly angels in our life.

On the occasion of world elder’s day, PG department of Home Science conducted nutrition camp at Kallarittikkal which comes under Oorgattiri Panchayath, Areacode under the supervision of ICDS supervisor Maheeda. Students visited them in their home and spent some time with them. The students conducted a survey and an awareness class to the elderly. Nutrition education was given to the elderly based on the topics like prevalence of Hyponatremia and its dietary management, common conditions normally seen in elderly, dietary management of various diseases and importance of cleanliness in old age. Students also conducted food games to the elder people.
