World diabetes day celebration on 14 November marked the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting for the discovery of insulin with Charles Best in 1922. The department also celeberated world diabetes day on NOV 14  with the theme  “Family and diabetes”. The theme focuses on the impact of diabetes on the family and provides support to the affected people via proper network and it also promotes the role of family in the management ,care ,prevention, treatment and education of diabetes.

As a part of the programme, an exhibition  was  organized by the PG students of the department under the guidance of department faculties  on types, causes ,symptoms, complications, gestational diabetes, management of diabetes etc. The exhibition was inaugurated by the department head ,Smt A.S Anitha Begum. Students also arranged food guide pyramid and diabetic food plate. The exhibition was very informative for students, teaching and non teaching staffs of the college. The displayed low glycaemic foods of common use   was very attractive and was eye catching too .
