WORLD FOOD DAY 2019

October 16th is celebrated as “World Food Day” in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The theme of “World Food Day 2019” was “Our Actions are Our Future. Healthy Diets for Zero Hunger World”. As a part of World Food Day Celebration the Department of Home Science conducted A Nutritional Awareness Class On “Basics Of Food, Balanced Diet, Food Groups And Recommended Dietary Allowance”. The class was taken by the student Majidha Nasrin Kadamodan of II nd year MSc Nutrition and Dietetics for the degree students in the campus, “A Quiz Competition” and“ Healthy Balanced Tiffin Recipes Competition” was also organized by the department. The program was inaugurated by college Principal Dr.C Saidalavi. Students from various department participated in both competitions. Around fifteen students participated in the quiz competition and Majidha Nasrin Kadamodan of II nd year MSc Nutrition and Dietetics was awarded first prize in the quiz competition and in total ten healthy balanced tiffin recipes for school going children were prepared by the students in the nutrition lab. The judgment of organoleptic characteristics of the prepared healthy balanced tiffin recipes was done by the teachers of Home Science Department A.S Anitha Begum, HOD and Associate Professor of the Department, Dr. Annie Ninan, Associate Professor and Najma Chokli, Assistant Professor on Contract. The students of IIndyear MSc.Nutrition and Dietetics was given first prize. The students prepared healthy balanced tiffin recipe included plain rice with ladies finger curry, cowpea and brinjal as side dish, boiled eggs and curd.
