World Food Day Celebration

World Food Day is an international day celebrated on October 16th to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. The PG Department of Home Science celebrated World Food Day on October 18, 2024, with the theme of the year Right to Foods for a Better Life and Better Future.An exhibition named 'Nourish the Future' was conducted.
 
A comprehensive display of nutritionally important food items, charts, and posters with food pyramids, macro-nutrient and micronutrient sources, World Food Day quotes, foods that improve your mood, and healthy foods were showcased. Recipes like carrot oat balls, dates and nuts balls, and amritham powder balls were included as the weight gain food items. Overnight oats with mixed fruits and chickpea salad were included in the weight loss recipes. Ragi pancake and chayamansa omelette were included for anaemic conditions. To promote healthy eating habits and portion control  'My Plate' model was also displayed. Thus the World Food Day celebration was successfully promoted by providing nutrition awareness and encouraging healthy eating habits among students and faculty members. 
Mrs. Jumana P, Assistant Professor Adhoc, and Ms. Nadeeda O (1st sem M.Sc. Home Science Nutrition and Dietetics) served as the faculty and student coordinators, respectively.
