The students of II Semester FYUGP Chemistry had the opportunity to participate in Shastrayan, an annual science outreach program organized by the University of Calicut on 17/01/2025.Theeventaimedtoignitecuriosityinscienceandtechnologyamongstudentsand provide an interactive platform to learn about recent developments in various scientific disciplines. A total of 44 students from the department of Chemistry, accompanied by two facultymembers,DrJyothiPandDrDeepaKenthusiasticallytookpartintheprogram. Thestudentsexploredawiderangeofscientificexhibitionsorganizedbyvariousdepartments and research centers of the University of Calicut. The exhibits demonstrated advancements in chemistry, physics, biology, computer science, mathematics and environmental science, with live experiments and interactive models. Special focus was given to the Chemistry Pavilion, where students witnessed experiments showcasing chemical reactions, nanotechnology applications, and sustainable chemistry practices. The demonstrations were engaging and fostered a deeper understanding of theoretical concepts. The event provided a platform for students to interact with eminent scientists, researchers, and postgraduate students. These interactionsinspiredmanystudentsand broadenedtheirperspectivesonpotential careerpaths inscientificresearchandindustry.Thestudentsexpressedimmensesatisfactionwiththevisit, notingthatitenrichedtheirknowledgeandsparkedagreaterinterestinscientificinquiry.Many appreciated the practical demonstrations, which complemented their classroom learning. The visit to Shastrayan was a highly rewarding experience for the II Semester FYUGPChemistry students. It not only enhanced their understanding of scientific principles but also motivated themtothinkinnovativelyandpursueexcellenceintheiracademicendeavors.TheDepartment ofChemistryextendsitsgratitudetotheUniversityofCalicutfororganizingsuchanenriching event and providing the students with this wonderful opportunity.
