On July 10, 2024, the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the FYUGP Academic
Committee, held an orientation programme for first-year students in room B302. Dr. Jyothi, Head of
the Department, inaugurated the event with an insightful introduction to the programme and
detailed the course outcomes, setting a positive tone for the students' academic journey. Dr. Deepa,
the tutor for the first-semester chemistry course, elaborated on the skills, knowledge, and values
students would acquire upon graduation, emphasizing the importance of a strong foundation in
chemistry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills essential for future careers. Dr. Jamsheena,
the FYUGP department level coordinator, coordinated the programme and discussed various
available pathways and minors within the College, offering students a clear understanding of their
academic options and opportunities for specialization. Dr. Jasna VC and Dr. Thasnim provided
detailed explanations about the Academic Bank of Credit and transfer options, allowing for greater
flexibility and mobility in the students' educational paths. First-year students actively participated,
expressing their feedback and appreciation for the comprehensive overview of the curriculum and
valuable information on academic planning and resources. The orientation successfully equipped
new students with essential knowledge and a sense of direction, ensuring a smooth transition into
university life. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants and organizers for their
contributions to the successful orientation.
