The Department of Chemistry organized a comprehensive bridge course for first-semester
undergraduate students, which took place over three days on July 11, 12, and 17, 2024. This
program aimed to provide new students with a solid foundation and understanding of the
academic journey they are about to embark on. The program was officially inaugurated by
Dr. Jyothi P, the Head of the Department of Chemistry. In her opening remarks, Dr. Jyothi
emphasized the importance of the bridge course in helping students transition smoothly from
high school to university-level chemistry. She highlighted the key objectives of the program,
which include familiarizing students with the curriculum, introducing them to the evaluation
methods, and providing a roadmap for their academic and professional futures. Dr.
Shamseera KO, an Assistant Professor, discussed the opportunities available after completing
a BSc in Chemistry, while Mrs. Ameera explained the internal and external evaluation
methods. Dr. V Hikmathulla, Head of the Department of Malayalam, and Dr. Bajeel PN,
Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, discussed the minors and
Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC) offered by their departments. Faculty members from
various departments also participated, providing insights into their respective minors and
MDC programs. The program was coordinated by Dr. Jamsheena V, the Department Quality
Assurance Coordinator (DQAC), in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell
(IQAC) of the college.
