World Environment Day

On June 5, 2024, the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the Science Club,
celebrated World Environment Day with a series of educational and creative activities. The
theme for this year, “Land restoration, stopping desertification and building drought
resilience” guided the day’s events, including an awareness class and a poster making
competition.The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Jyothi P, Head of the
Department of Chemistry. She highlighted the importance of World Environment Day and the
theme “Land restoration, stopping desertification and building drought resilience”
emphasizing the role of educational institutions in promoting environmental awareness.The
main event was a detailed presentation on the theme “Land restoration, stopping
desertification and building drought resilience” Delivered by Jabin shabanu and Muhsina K,
M.Sc. Chemistry second year students, the presentation covered various aspects of
environmental restoration, including reforestation, conservation of biodiversity, and
sustainable practices.Following the presentation, students participated in a poster making
competition centered on the theme “Land restoration, stopping desertification and building
drought resilience” The competition aimed to encourage creativity and expression among
students while spreading awareness about environmental issues.The whole programme was
coordinated by Mrs. Suhada K.M and Dr. Jamsheena V. Assistant Professors and Science
club Coordinators, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri. The programme came to an end
at 3.40 pm.
