Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation

PG & Research Department of Botany successfully conducted a Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation on 26th September 2025. The main objective of the workshop was to provide students with practical knowledge and awareness about mushroom farming as a sustainable and income-generating agricultural practice. A total of 50 students from CHMKMHSS, Kavanur participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm. The event began with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, followed by an overview of the significance of mushroom cultivation in today’s agricultural landscape. The technical session was led by Dr. Usman Sir, who expertly conveyed the cultivation techniques. He explained in detail the types of edible mushrooms, preparation of the substrate, sterilization methods, spawning process, and environmental conditions necessary for successful growth. His session also included a live demonstration, allowing students to observe and participate in each step of the cultivation process. The workshop was highly interactive, with students engaging in hands-on activities and asking insightful questions. Participants expressed keen interest in applying the techniques learned and appreciated the opportunity to gain practical exposure. The workshop concluded with a feedback session, where students shared their positive experiences and thanked the department for organizing such a valuable learning event.
