  • 24 Sep / 2025

PG and Research Department of Botany organized a vegetable harvesting activity on 24th September 2025 at the college campus garden. This program was a continuation of the department’s initiative to promote sustainable practices, organic cultivation, and experiential learning among students. The vegetable garden, established and maintained by the students, faculty members, and Lab attenders of the department, has been nurtured with great care through regular watering, weeding, and application of organic manure. On the day of harvesting, vegetables such as Capsicum, Green chilli were collected. Students enthusiastically participated in the activity, working together to harvest the crops, sort the produce, and record the yield. The harvested vegetables were later distributed among staff and students, highlighting the importance of self-sufficiency, eco-friendly cultivation, and the value of teamwork. The activity also provided hands-on knowledge about the cultivation cycle, pest management, and harvesting techniques, thereby linking theoretical concepts with practical experience. The event proved to be an enriching experience for all participants, reinforcing the significance of sustainable agriculture and the role of youth in promoting environmental awareness and food security. The event was coordinated by Ms. Surya E V and Ms. Sana.
