Alumni Lecture 01 – ‘The Role of Science in Courtrooms’

On 5th August 2025, PG and Research Department of Botany, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, organized its inaugural Alumni Lecture titled ‘The Role of Science in Courtrooms’. The session delivered by Advocate Sanjana Chandran V.P., a practicing lawyer at the District Court, Calicut, and a distinguished alumna of the department (B.Sc. Botany, 2017–2020 batch). The lecture offered valuable insights into the intersection of science and law, highlighting the pivotal role of scientific knowledge in judicial proceedings. The resource person discussed various laws influenced by scientific perspectives and explained the procedural aspects of court cases, making the session both informative and intellectually enriching. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Usman A., Head of the Department of Botany. Dr. Faseela P., Assistant Professor, facilitated the session and formally introduced the guest speaker. The event witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from both undergraduate and postgraduate students, who engaged in a lively interaction with the resource person. The programme coordinated by Dr. Deepa P. (Assistant Professor Adhoc) and Asna Jahan K. (Fifth Semester B.Sc. Botany). The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Asna Jahan K., who expressed sincere gratitude to the speaker and the organizers for an engaging and thought-provoking session.
