FLORIDO 2024: Taxonomic Collection Trip to Munnar and Kodaikanal
PG Department of Botany successfully organized a taxonomic collection trip to Munnar and Kodaikanal for the Third semester M.Sc. Botany students from 19th to 21st October 2024. The primary objectives of the trip were to study the rich plant diversity of these regions and to enhance the student's expertise in plant identification. During the trip, students collected plant specimens from various locations as outlined in the syllabus, M.Sc. Botany, University of Calicut, which will be used for the preparation of herbaria. The fieldwork provided hands-on experience in identifying and documenting various plant species, enriching their understanding of taxonomy and plant diversity. The trip coordinated by the faculty members, Deepa P. and Sudheesha K., with the student coordinator, Reeshana, Third semester M.Sc. Botany. It was a valuable learning opportunity, enabling the students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
