World Environment Day Celebration 2026*
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units and Bhoomithra Sena Club of KAHM Unity Women’s College (Autonomous), Manjeri , in association with ESAF Bank, Manjeri, celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 by organizing a Fruit Tree Plantation Drive in the college premises. The programme aimed to promote environmental conservation and encourage sustainable practices among students and the community. Various fruit plant saplings, including Rambutan ( Nephelium lappaceum ), Mango ( Mangifera indica ), Guava ( Psidium guajava ), Sapota ( Manilkara zapota ), etc. were planted across the campus to enhance greenery and biodiversity.
The programme was inaugurated by the College Principal, Prof. Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, who planted a Rambutan sapling as a symbol of the institution’s commitment to environmental protection. Ms. Aparna R. Nair, Bank Manager and staff members of ESAF Bank, Manjeri, also participated in the plantation drive by planting fruit tree saplings. Their active involvement highlighted the importance of collective efforts in preserving nature and creating a greener future.
As part of the celebration, Prof. Muhammed Basheer Ummathur delivered an environmental awareness session, emphasizing the significance of protecting natural resources, conserving biodiversity, and adopting eco-friendly lifestyles. He encouraged students to become responsible environmental stewards and contribute towards building a sustainable society through small but meaningful actions. The programme was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Haris U. and Dr. Faseela P., with the enthusiastic participation of NSS volunteers, Bhoomithra Sena Club members, faculty members, and students.
