Street Play: AIDS Awareness Program
NSS Units 008 & 171 of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri organized a street play as AIDS awareness session on 15th October 2024. The event was conducted under the leadership of the State AIDS Control Society and the State Health Department, in collaboration with Manjeri Medical College.
The event was led by Ms. Loveena Bennet, Junior Public Health Nurse at Manjeri Medical College and Mr. Bishwajith C.V, Junior Health Inspector at Manjeri Medical College.
The street play aimed to raise awareness about the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and combating the stigma associated with the disease. The play was performed by Pournami Theatres, a renowned theatre group from Balussery, Kozhikode.
The program was graced by the presence of college principal, Prof. Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, who delivered a motivating speech encouraging students to take active roles in health awareness campaigns.
The event attracted a large audience, including students, staff and local community members. It effectively conveyed critical health awareness messages, encouraging everyone to join the fight against HIV/AIDS and break the silence surrounding it.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by NSS secretary Ms. Hana Fathima, acknowledging the collaboration of all the organizations involved and the efforts of the NSS team.
