ONAM CELEBRATION
NSS Units 171 and 008 of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, organized a vibrant onam celebration at the WITTH special school for mentally challenged in Mullampara, Manjeri, on the 11th of September, 2024. The program aimed to provide a joyful Onam celebration for mentally challenged students, fostering their sense of community, enhancing their social interactions, and promoting their emotional well-being through culturally enriching activities .
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with an inauguration by Dr.Rajan, the principal , he shared his experience with the students. Mr.saleem, the chairman ,addressed the importance of such inclusive events and the role of community support in enhancing the lives of students with special needs.
Mr. Haris U and Dr. Faseela P, NSS Program Officers, who facilitated the event and played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the programme. The programme involved the active participation of 40 enthusiastic NSS volunteers who handled the programme beautifully.The celebration was a delightful blend of traditional festivities and interactive activities. The volunteers engaged the students in several fun games designed to foster participation and joy. The atmosphere was further enlivened by singing and dancing sessions, where volunteers and students shared moments of happiness and camaraderie.
To add to the festive spirit, sweets were distributed to all attendees, and special gifts were awarded to the winners of the games.
The celebration successfully created an environment of joy and inclusion, reinforcing the spirit of Onam through shared activities and mutual respect.
