World Environment Day (Awareness Class by NSS)

On June 5th and 6th, 2024, the NSS units of K.A.H.M. Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, organized a series of events to honor World Environment Day. The festivities commenced with a solemn inauguration ceremony on June 5th, where Principal Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur set the tone by planting a tree, symbolizing our commitment to nurturing and preserving the environment. The occasion was graced by the presence of College Manager Er. O. Abdul Ali, who delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship.

Continuing the spirit of celebration, a green pledge was taken by all participants, reaffirming their dedication to sustainable living and environmental conservation. Dr. Faseela from the Department of Botany and Dr. Siddiqe P from the Department of English lent their support to the event, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of environmental concerns and the imperative for collective action. Dr. Hikmathulla. V, the program officer, along with volunteer secretaries Fathima Rasha, Hana Fathima, Fathima Hashim, Najiya Thasni, Dilsha, Devi Sree, Riya, and Dilna, also addressed the gathering.

The festivities culminated in an enlightening awareness class on June 6th, led by Dr. Faseela P, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany. Held in the college’s seminar hall, the session provided a platform for students to delve into the complexities of environmental issues and explore potential solutions. Dr. Faseela’s insightful discourse undoubtedly ignited a sense of responsibility and empowered the attendees to become agents of positive change in their communities.
