YAMS (Yuva Aapta Mitra Scheme) Camp 2026

The 20 NCC cadets of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri attended the YAMS (Yuva Aapta Mitra Scheme) Camp organised by 30 (K) Battalion NCC at the NCC Group Headquarters, Calicut from 5th to 11th January, 2026. The programme was designed as a week-long intensive training initiative to prepare cadets to serve as trained community volunteers during emergencies and disaster situations.
The aim of the camp was to equip cadets with essential disaster preparedness and life-saving skills. The objectives were to provide basic training in disaster management, emergency response and first aid. During the camp, the cadets received hands-on training in basic life support including CPR, choking management and AED usage, fire safety and rescue operations by Fire and Rescue Services personnel, disaster management and crowd control sessions by Kerala Police officials, and socio-psychological and behavioural training for effective response during emergencies. The cadets also actively participated in cultural and sports activities, fostering teamwork, leadership and overall personality development. The camp enhanced the cadets’ confidence and competence in handling emergency situations by strengthening their disaster response skills, teamwork and leadership qualities. It also fostered a strong sense of social responsibility, discipline and readiness to support civil authorities during crises.
