Self Defence Training Programme

NCC Army Wing, KAHM Unity Women's College, Manjeri, under 9 (K) Girls Battalion NCC, Calicut, in association with Kerala Police District Police WSDT Team (Women's Self Defence Training), conducted a Self Defence Training Programme on July 28, 2025, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at CH Auditorium.
The aim of the programme was to empower NCC cadets with essential self-defence skills and techniques to enhance their personal safety and security. The objective was to equip cadets with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in threatening situations.
The programme started with a silent prayer, followed by a welcome speech by Lt. Loosiya. KP, Associate NCC Officer, who highlighted the importance of self-defence training for girls. Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, Principal, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the significance of self-defence in real-life situations.
The Master trainers of the WSDT Team, K. Valsala, Assistant Sub Inspector (Team Leader), VJ. Soniya Mable, Assistant Sub Inspector, and KC. Sini Mol, Senior Civil Police Officer, shared their expertise and real-life experiences, explaining the importance of self-defence. They also conducted a practical session on various self-defence techniques for the cadets.
The cadets provided feedback, stating that the session was highly useful and boosted their confidence level to react against attacks. A total of 60 cadets participated in the programme, which was anchored by SGT Shahma.C (5th Sem BA English). The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by UO Shahana. MP (5th Sem BSc FCS).
The programme successfully equipped the cadets with essential self-defence skills and techniques, enhancing their confidence and ability to respond effectively in threatening situations. The cadets appreciated the practical session and expressed gratitude for the valuable training.
