The Bhoomithrasena Club of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, successfully organized a Nature Camp and Trekking event at Karimpuzha Wildlife Sanctuary, TK Colony, Pookottumpadam, Malappuram, on 17th December 2024. The program was sponsored by the Kerala Forest Division and the Social Forestry Extensive Division, Kozhikode. The inauguration was graced by the presence of Mr. V. M. Sadikali, an acclaimed wildlife photographer, who inspired the attendees with his insights into the natural world. This was followed by an engaging nature awareness session led by Mr. Ameen Ahsan, Section Forest Officer, and Mr. P. M. Ayoob, Beat Forest Officer, who shed light on the significance of biodiversity conservation and the vital role forests play in sustaining life on Earth.

A highlight of the camp was a 3-kilometer trekking expedition through the serene and biodiverse trails of the Karimpuzha Wildlife Sanctuary. This journey was meticulously guided by Mr. Vinod D and Mr. K. Prakash, Beat Forest Officers, along with Mr. Ali, a Forest Guide. Participants marveled at the sanctuary's rich flora and fauna, which includes endemic and endangered species, while learning about the intricate ecological balance of the forest ecosystem. The trek offered an immersive experience, instilling a sense of responsibility among students towards environmental preservation and sustainable living.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from 48 students representing various departments of the college, making it a resounding success. The camp was coordinated by Dr. Faseela P, Bhoomithrasena Club Coordinator, Mrs. Shifa M, Joint Coordinator, and Sana V, a fifth-semester BSc Botany student. Their dedicated efforts ensured the smooth execution of the program, which left an indelible impression on the students about the importance of conserving natural habitats.
