AWARENESS PROGRAM IN CONNECTION WITH DAY AGAINST ‘DOMESTIC VIOLENCE’
An awareness program in connection with Day Against ‘Domestic Violence’ was organized on November 25, 2024, at College Auditorium by the KSWDC Women Cell, Human Rights and Legal Awareness Club, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, in collaboration with the District Legal Authority, Manjeri. The event aimed to spread awareness about the prevention of domestic violence and legal recourse available to victims. The program commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Hana Fathima, Secretary of the Women Cell, who emphasized the importance of collective efforts to combat domestic violence. The presidential address was delivered by Mrs. Suhada KM, Women Cell Coordinator, who highlighted the vital role of educational institutions in raising awareness and empowering women to stand against violence. The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, Principal of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri. The keynote address was delivered by Adv. Suja N, Deputy Legal and Defence Counsel. Her talk focused on the legal frameworks, support systems, and the importance of early intervention to curb domestic violence. She encouraged participants to be aware of their rights and to reach out for help when needed. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Sadiya Sherin, Women Cell Executive Member, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for making the event successful. Prominent attendees included Dr. Jamsheena V and Mrs. Ashitha PA, Women Cell Executive Members; Mrs. Rahiya Thasneem, Human Rights and Legal Awareness Club Coordinator; and Mrs. Janatha and Mr. Sureshan, Coordinators from the District Legal Authority, Manjeri. The program was well-received, with active participation from students and faculty, reinforcing the need for continued dialogue and action to combat domestic violence in society.
