Rice cultivation commenced on the campus by NSS
Rice cultivation commenced as part of the ‘Nalek Oru Kathir’ project initiated by National Service Scheme (NSS) University of Calicut. Under this project, various rice seeds like Rami Gali, Chettu Valian, Ponni, and Ekkann were acquired by NSS units of KHM Unity Women’s College and sown in the college’s butterfly garden by NSS volunteers. On October 13, 2023, the inauguration of the rice plantation, took place during a ceremony attended by Principal Dr. Muhammad Basheer Ummathur. Also present were Manager Engr.o.Abdul Ali, Hamraz Ahmed (Assistant professor of physical education) and program officer Dr. V. Hikmathulla. Dr.Deepa (assistant professor, Dept. of Botany )Phebna, Shifna, Nuha, Shifa, Seena, and Hiba played key roles in leading the program.
