Awareness program on N-LIST and Open Access Resources.
Womens Studies in association with Shihab Thangal Library and Information Centre organized ‘Awareness program on N-LIST and Open Access Resources ‘ on 22th March, 2024. Mr. Prasanth M, Librarian, Department of Folklore Studies, University of Calicut, spearheaded the session.
The objective of the session was to familiarize participants with the usage of N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) and Open Access resources, enabling them to effectively utilize these platforms for academic and research purposes.
The session, attended by 129 postgraduate students from various disciplines, aimed to enhance their understanding and awareness of available resources and efficient search techniques for accessing scholarly content. Navigation techniques within the portal were explained to facilitate efficient resource exploration. The concept of Open Access was elucidated, focusing on freely accessible scholarly literature and its benefits to researchers. Examples of prominent Open Access repositories and databases were provided.
The feedback underscored the participants’ enthusiasm for the training, which equipped them with practical skills to leverage N-LIST and Open Access resources for academic and research pursuits.
The session started with introduction by Mr. Yunus TP, UGC Librarian and the program coordinator. Ms M.K. Vineetha, Women Cell Coordinator and Ms. Shifa, Lecturer Department of Botany also supported for successful coordination of the program.
