Invited Alumni Talk on “Digitalization in the Banking Sector”
The UNICOSA (Unity Commerce Alumnae Association) in association with the Department of Commerce, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, organized an Invited Alumni Talk on the topic “Digitalization in the Banking Sector” on 14th January 2020. The event aimed to provide students with insights into the evolving landscape of the banking sector through the lens of digital transformation, highlighting the significant changes and opportunities that digitalization brings to the industry. It also sought to reconnect the alumni with their alma mater, thereby strengthening the bond between past and present students of the department. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Febi Jishana, an alumna from the B. Com 2016 batch and an Assistant Professor of Commerce, who also served as the Programme Coordinator. This was followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Mr. T. T. Abdul Razak, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce. His address set the tone for the event by emphasizing the importance of staying abreast of technological advancements in the financial sector. The Inaugural Address was given by Dr. C. Saidalavi, Principal of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, who underscored the college's commitment to providing platforms for learning beyond the classroom.
The keynote speaker for the event was Mrs. Relkisha Ashraf, an alumna from the B.Com 2004 batch and currently the Assistant Vice President & Branch Head of Axis Bank Ltd., Calicut. Her talk on “Digitalization in the Banking Sector” was both enlightening and thoughtprovoking, offering practical insights into the ways digitalization is reshaping banking operations, enhancing customer experiences, and creating new career opportunities in the sector. She also highlighted the challenges faced by banks in adapting to new technologies and the skills required to thrive in this dynamic environment.
Felicitation addresses were delivered by Ms. T. K. Fathima Shajitha, Associate Professor of Commerce, and Ms. Haseena Jasmine C K, an alumna from the B.Com 2004 batch and Assistant Professor of Commerce. They praised the alumni for their achievements and stressed the importance of alumni contributions in inspiring current students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nisla KP, an alumna from the B.Com 2013 batch and Assistant Professor of Commerce, who expressed gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and organizers for making the event a success
