Open Well
An open well is simply a hole in the ground that allows access to groundwater. Wells are probably the earliest tools humans have invented to gain access to groundwater. It saved people from river tyranny. With the invention of open wells, people no longer needed to live near rivers and were able to move inland. They have been used to provide access to groundwater for both domestic and non-domestic purposes. Historically, its main economic use was to extract water for irrigation. Our college open well is located near the greenhouse garden.
