The History Association of the Department of History, K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, was formally inaugurated by Mr. Moideen Thottassery, Head & Associate Professor, Department of History, Government College, Malappuram, on Thursday, 29 January 2026 at Aryabhata Hall. While delivering the inaugural address by focusing on the topic the “Between Tradition and Modernity: Sayyid Makthi Thangal’s Vision on Muslim Social Transformation in Colonial Kerala.”  prof. Moideen Thottassery highlighted the reformist ideas of Sayyid Makthi Thangal and their significance in the context of colonial Kerala. Moideen Thottassery who served as the first faculty member of the Department of History (1993-2000) at K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, was felicitated by the College Manager, marking a moment of remembrance and appreciation.

 Mr. Shabeermon M., Head of the Department of History, presided over the programme, while the college manager, Engineer O. Abdul Ali, addressed the gathering and appreciated the academic initiatives of the department. Felicitation addresses were delivered by ,Mr. Adam Thanari, Staff Club Secretary; faculty members of the Department of History; and Dr. Saithalavi K. P., Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Labeeba K., Association Secretary, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Afeeha Sulthana, Second Year B.A. History student. The programme was attended by students and faculty members of the department.
