Invited Online Lecture on India–China Relations: Opportunities and Challenges Beyond Conflicts

The Department of Political Science, in association with the Department of History, organised an invited online lecture on “Thinking Beyond Conflicts: Opportunities and Challenges in India–China Relations” on 08 January 2026 from 7:00–8:30 PM via Google Meet. The session was delivered by Dr. Sebastian N, Professor of International Relations at Jamia Millia Islamia.The lecture helped students understand the major challenges in India–China relations, including border disputes, recent conflicts, the role of Sikkim and Tibet, China’s influence in India’s neighbourhood, CPEC, trade deficit, and water-sharing issues. It also highlighted opportunities for cooperation through BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.The interactive discussion session addressed key questions raised by students and faculty on India’s relations with Pakistan and China, India’s preparedness to face China’s growing military power, and China’s selective involvement in international issues. Overall, the lecture was highly beneficial in enhancing students’ knowledge and critical understanding of contemporary international relations.
