PAPER PRESENTATIONS

Faculty members of the Department of History, K.A.H.M. Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, participated in the 44th Annual Session of South Indian History Congress held at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, from 20 to 22 December 2025. During the session, Mr. Faizal T.K., Mr. Shabeermon M., and Ms. Jaseena C. contributed scholarly papers addressing diverse research themes. Their papers included “Cultural Confluence and Architectural Expression of Malabar Mosques: Examining the Mishkal Mosque in Calicut,” ( Mr. Faizal ) which analysed syncretic architectural traditions in Malabar; “A Culinary Lexicon of Exchange: Arabic and Persian Loanwords in Malayali Gastronomy,” ( Shabeermon M ) which examined linguistic and cultural exchanges reflected in Kerala’s food traditions; and “The Citadel of Tradition and Modernity: Jamia Nooriya Arabic College, Pattikkad, and the Transformation of the Mappila Educational Landscape in Malabar,” ( Ms Jaseena C ) which explored the role of educational institutions in negotiating tradition and modernity within the Mappila community.
