Hiroshima–Nagasaki Commemoration Programme

The Department of History at KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, organized a commemorative event on the theme "Hiroshima and Nagasaki" on 7th August 2025, marking 80 years since the atomic bombings. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the devastating impact of nuclear warfare and to reflect on the importance of peace and disarmament.The session was held at Captain Lakshmi Hall and was graced by a special talk delivered by Mr. Saidalavi.V, Assistant Professor,Dept. Of Arabic, Unity Women’s College. He delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on the historical background, the catastrophic consequences of the bombings, and the continuing global relevance of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as symbols of peace.The program was coordinated by Dr. Shiji KP, Assistant Professor, Department of History, as the Faculty Coordinator, and Gopika CP, Association Secretary, as the Student Coordinator.The event concluded with an interactive session where students actively participated. The program was a meaningful initiative in cultivating historical awareness and advocating for peace among the student community.
