A career guidance session was held on February 13, 2025, for undergraduate students of BA English. The session featured Dr. Simi K. Salim, representing ICSSR and the Department of English, AMU. An alumnus of IIT Madras, Dr. Salim spoke on the topic "Humanities Matters: Navigating Postgrad, Higher Education, and the Career Industry."The session provided valuable insights into academic and professional opportunities for humanities graduates. Key areas discussed included postgraduate admissions in India and abroad, entrance exams for central universities, and funding options such as NET, JRF, and ICSSR grants. Additionally, Dr. Salim elaborated on international scholarships, research grant applications, and the relevance of humanities in the evolving AI-driven job market. The discussion highlighted career pathways in academia, research, and industry, offering students a clear perspective on their future prospects.The audience comprised fourth and sixth-semester BA English students.
The programme was jointly organized by the Career Guidance Cell and the Women's Cell of the college. Ms. Sangeeta K., Career Guidance Cell Coordinator, welcomed the gathering, while Ms. Laila Nasreen, a Women's Cell volunteer from the fourth-semester History programme, delivered the vote of thanks.The session was well received, with students engaging actively in discussions, reflecting their keen interest in exploring career and higher education opportunities in humanities.
