Industrial Visit to Khadi Weaving Unit & Nilambur Teak Museum

The Department of Commerce, KAHM Unity Women's College, organized an Industrial Visit to the Karimbanthodi Weaving Unit of the Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board on 10 February 2026 for the students of Fourth Semester B.Com Cooperation.A total of 49 students participated in the visit.  The visit aimed to provide practical exposure to Traditional weaving techniques, and the functioning of village-based industries under cooperative frameworks. During the visit, students observed the various stages of the khadi production process, including yarn preparation and handloom weaving. The interaction with the unit officials offered valuable insights into sustainable rural entrepreneurship and the role of cooperatives in promoting self-employment and local economic development.The team was accompanied by Ms. Fathima Shajitha T.K. and Mr. Yaser Yaseen P, who guided and coordinated the visit effectively.In addition, the group visited the renowned Nilambur Teak Museum, where students gained knowledge about the history of teak plantations, forestry management, and the significance of sustainable natural resource utilization.
