Gender Equity Program: The Small Steps Towards Empowermet

The Department of Commerce, KAHM Unity Women’s College, successfully organized a Gender Equity Program titled “The Small Steps Towards Empowerment” on 5 February 2026 at 2:40 PM in the CH Auditorium.

The programme aimed to create awareness about gender equity and to encourage students to recognize the importance of small, consistent actions in achieving empowerment at personal, academic, and societal levels.
The session was led by Ms. M. K. Vineetha, Assistant Professor, Department of English, who served as the resource person. In her insightful talk, she highlighted the significance of gender sensitivity, self-confidence, and equal opportunities in shaping an inclusive society. She emphasized that empowerment begins with awareness, education, and conscious everyday choices, inspiring students to reflect on their own roles in promoting gender equity.The programme witnessed active participation from students, who engaged attentively with the speaker and gained valuable perspectives on empowerment and social responsibility. The interactive nature of the session made it informative and motivating.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Sahida K, Assistant Professor (Ad-hoc), Department of Commerce, with Jinan VC, VI Semester B.Com Cooperation, serving as the Student Coordinator. The programme concluded successfully, leaving a meaningful impact on the participants and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to fostering gender equity and empowerment.
