           Nestled on a scenic hillside and surrounded by a lush green canopy, the college is committed to upholding a Clean and Green Protocol that emphasizes environmental responsibility and sustainability. This protocol seeks to deepen awareness among students about the critical impacts of climate change, promote sustainable practices, and equip the community with strategies to address environmental challenges while safeguarding our natural resources for the future.

Objectives

·         Conserve and protect the campus’s rich biodiversity.

·         Recharge and sustain groundwater levels through scientifically effective methods.

·         Reduce chemical use on crops by advancing organic farming techniques.

·         Effectively manage biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste on campus.

·         Create and maintain a plastic-free environment.

·         Reduce pollution of water, air, and soil.

Methods

·         Implemented rainwater harvesting with a 19.5-lakh litre capacity and an Open Well Recharging System utilizing coconut husk technology. A water recycling system is also in place to repurpose wastewater, minimizing waste and supporting resource conservation.

·         Maintain an Aquatic Bio Park and a Biodiversity Park to protect endangered species and contribute to ecological balance.

·         A bird-feeding centre to attract local bird species and provide students with knowledge of avian diversity in their surroundings.

·         Use QR coding to label plant species across campus, enhancing students’ and staff’s understanding of local biodiversity.

·         Foster organic farming through insecticide-free polyhouse cultivation, mushroom cultivation workshops, and vermicomposting activities with student involvement.

·         Preserve a plastic-free campus, actively supported by NSS volunteers in collaboration with Manjeri Municipality’s Clean Manjeri Scheme, ensuring that all plastic waste is removed from campus and surrounding areas.

·         Provide incinerators in all campus and hostel restroom facilities for hygienic waste management.

·         Conduct regular bio-conservation awareness sessions led by NSS and NCC to educate students, staff, and local community members on the importance of ecological preservation.

·         Limited vehicle entry on campus to those of staff and students, minimizing air and noise pollution.

·         Implemented efficient waste management practices within both the campus and hostel facilities to maintain a clean environment.
