Faculty Related Policies
Faculty members play a critical role in maintaining academic standards and fostering a positive learning environment. The following guidelines outline key responsibilities for faculty within the department:
Teaching and Mentoring: Faculty should deliver courses as per the curriculum, actively engage students, and provide mentorship to support their academic and personal growth. Mentoring should be aimed at guiding students through both their studies and career planning.
Internal Examinations and Evaluation: Faculty are responsible for conducting internal examinations as scheduled, ensuring fair and transparent evaluation practices. Prompt and accurate feedback should be provided to students to help them understand their progress and areas for improvement.
Continuous Assessment: Faculty should engage in continuous assessment throughout the academic term. This includes assignments, quizzes, presentations, and other relevant activities to provide a comprehensive evaluation of student performance.
Feedback and Adaptation: Faculty are expected to seek feedback from students on teaching effectiveness and course content. Necessary adjustments should be made to teaching methods or materials if improvements are needed to enhance student understanding and engagement.
Departmental Duties: Faculty members should actively participate in duties assigned by the department council, including administrative tasks, curriculum development, or departmental activities, ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of the department.
Students’ Related Policies
Mobile Phone Usage: The use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited within the college campus. Students are expected to keep their devices switched off during their stay on the premises to maintain a focused and disciplined environment.
Behavior and Conduct: Students must uphold high standards of dignity, respect, and courtesy both inside and outside the college. Respectful interactions with faculty, staff, peers, and visitors are essential. Behavior that brings disrepute to the institution is strictly prohibited, and any form of misconduct will lead to disciplinary action.
Meetings and Fundraising: Any form of meeting or fundraising activity, either within or outside the department, must have prior permission from the Principal. Unauthorized gatherings, collections, or events may result in disciplinary action.
Dress Code and Uniform: Students are expected to dress modestly and adhere to the college’s dress code. Wearing the prescribed uniform is mandatory on all working days. This standard of dress reflects the college’s values and fosters a sense of unity and professionalism among students.
Identity Card Requirement: All students must carry their college identity cards at all times. The identity card must be shown upon request by faculty, administrative staff, or security personnel. Any loss of the identity card should be reported immediately, and a replacement will incur a fee.
Prohibition of Ragging: Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated within the college or hostel premises. The college complies with government regulations to prevent ragging, and any incidents will be reported to the police. Disciplinary measures will be taken against individuals involved, which may include suspension or expulsion from the institution.
Fee Payment and Deadline: Students without fee concessions must pay their fees according to the schedule in the college calendar or as notified by the administration.
Payments are accepted on designated collection days from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Delayed payments beyond the specified due date will attract fines, and non-payment within 15 days of the due date may result in removal from the college rolls, impacting attendance records and course continuation.
Attendance and Leave Policy: Regular attendance is mandatory. Absences must be justified with a formal leave application submitted to the class tutor and approved by the Head of Department.
Unapproved absences for ten consecutive working days may result in the student being struck off the college rolls.
Attendance records are essential for issuing the Attendance Progress Certificate (APC), which is necessary for university examination eligibility. Satisfactory attendance, conduct, and academic progress are required for this certificate.
Library Rules and Regulations
- The library operates on all working days from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students must observe strict discipline and maintain silence while in the library.
- Each student is entitled to borrow up to five books at a time. Books are issued for 14 days and may be renewed if not reserved by another student. Fines will be levied for overdue books at a rate of 1 rupee per day per book.
- Students must handle books and other library materials with care, and any damage observed must be reported immediately. Borrowers are responsible for any damage noted upon return and will be required to replace or compensate for lost books.
- Personal belongings must be kept at the property counter, and students must carry their identity cards when visiting the library. Hall tickets for university examinations and transfer certificates will only be issued once all library dues are cleared.
Lab Rules and Safety
· Access and Supervision: Lab access is restricted to scheduled times, and students may only enter the lab under the supervision of faculty or lab personnel.
· Equipment Usage: All lab equipment must be handled with care. Students must follow usage guidelines for each instrument and report any damage or malfunction to the lab supervisor immediately.
· Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): For labs requiring safety measures, students must wear appropriate PPE such as lab coats, gloves, or safety goggles, as directed by lab staff.
· Cleanliness and Organization: Students are responsible for maintaining a clean workspace and returning all equipment to its designated place after use. Any waste or hazardous materials must be disposed of following lab safety protocols.
· Behavior and Conduct: All lab users are expected to maintain a quiet, focused environment that ensures both individual and collective safety. Any form of distraction, careless handling of equipment, or misconduct will lead to disciplinary measures.
· Unauthorized Experiments: Students are not permitted to conduct experiments outside the approved curriculum. Any modification or individual project within the lab must have prior approval from the instructor.
