Scholarship Cell

The Scholarship Cell at KAHM Unity Women’s College has been established to channelize maximum scholarships to the students of the college.  It aims to extend a helping hand to the student community of the college by which they will get to know various agencies that provides various scholarships and free ships. The scholarship cell has an Institutional Nodal Officer from the teaching staff and an office staff from the NTS to assist and support the students for applying various scholarships from Government and Non-Governmental agencies, and the Nodal Officer and the office staff together discharge the verification and approval of the scholarships following all the due procedures. Another office staff of the college is in charge of the e-grants who meticulously work to bring in maximum number of e- grants from the Govt. to the deserving students.

The scholarship cell of the college organizes Orientation sessions to the first-year students as a part of the Bridge Course for the newly joined students of UG Programmes, and a separate Orientation programme for the seniors to ease the process of applying various scholarships. The college office provides required assistance and guidance to students to timely file their applications for government scholarships. They are informed of the government scholarships through circulars and class tutors take the initiative to notify students to approach college office with necessary documents. The cell regularly updates all the notifications via Scholarship WhatsApp groups and the students queries on scholarships in the groups are also answered by the scholarship cell.

Govt. Scholarships and Free ships

e- grantz

Students who belong to the categories of Scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other eligible communities, OBCs and other communities who are socially and economically backward including forward castes could avail e-grants

·         The scheme provides tuition fee, special fee and examination fee to SC, ST and OBC students and also to the economically backward General students.

·         SC and ST students can also avail hostel and food expenses through e-grant schemes of the Govt.  

·         The following scholarships from different sources are available to deserving students, who have secured the required marks and who within the income limit and other conditions of eligibility.

Non- Govt. Scholarships and Free ships

                The institution provides various scholarships and free ships to the eligible students through a well-structured procedure. Management, Parent Teacher Association, Alumni, and Departments extend support to the student community through various free ships and scholarships. The following scholarships and free ships are provided by various bodies of the institution to the students.

 

PTA Merit Scholarship

Parent Teacher Association of KAHM Unity Women’s College distributes PTA Merit scholarships to class toppers in every academic year

 

UCAA Scholarship

Unity College Alumni Association(UCAA) offers scholarships to meritorious students with less than Rs. 1 lakh as annual family income

 

Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Certain Departments at KAHM Unity Women’s College offers Merit Cum Means Scholarships for the deserving students.

 

 Unity Edu-care free ships

Under this scheme all the main departments of the college instituted free ship for two (two UGs or one UG and one PG) needy students of each department. The free ship aims to meet the tuition fee of the selected students during an academic year

 

UCAA Free ships

Unity College Alumni Association (UCAA) offers freeships and the scheme covers the tuition fee and study materials of the selected students.

 

Alchem Unity free ships

Alchem, the Alumni of Chemistry Department,  offers freeships to the meritorious and economically backward students from UG and PG Courses. The department selects five students for every academic year and the scheme covers the cost of the study materials

 

Management Free ships

Muslim Educational and Cultural Association (MECA), the college management, offers free ships, and the scheme covers tuition fee and examination fee of the deserving students.

 

  Conveyance Free ships

The Parents Teacher Association provides Conveyance Free ships to the economically back ward students who uses the college bus facilities by extending financial support. The number of free ships is determined based on the availability of funds and the PTA tries to support the maximum number of students through the scheme, instead of waiving the entire bus fee.

 

Free ships for Experiential Learning

The management provides financial support to the students who go out of the campus as part experiential learning or industrial visit. The support is given to each class which under take experiential learning and the amount is distributed among the students in each class. All students who join the experiential learning or industrial visit are equal beneficiaries of the free ship. The Principal sanction the amount based on the availability of funds and the relevance of the experiential learning project.

 

Curricular and Co-Curricular Excellence Awards

 The Scholarship Cell of the College has instituted Curricular and Co-Curricular Awards in the year 2023-24 as per the recommendations of the IQAC. The awards were established to recognize and encourage outstanding student achievement in both academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. This initiative was funded and supported by the Governing Body of the college.

 

Maulana Muhammed Ali Academic Excellence Award

The Maulana Muhammed Ali Academic Excellence Award has been instituted to foster academic distinction among students, recognizing exceptional performance in curricular pursuits. This prestigious award is conferred upon the highest-achieving students in Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, with one recipient selected from each of the following streams: Commerce, Humanities, and Science at UG level and one recipient from each department at PG level.

 

Hasan Mahmood Kurikkal Memorial Best Project/Dissertation Awards

The Hasan Mahmood Kurikkal Memorial Best Project/ Dissertation Awards have been established to foster excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate research projects across various departments within the institution. The quality of the project and the performance in the Project Viva are the parameters for the selection of the Best Project Awards.

 

 

Co-Curricular Excellence Awards

The following awards have been instituted to encourage and honour outstanding student achievement in co-curricular domains.

Policy Statements

·         The Scholarship cell of the college take measures to avail maximum number of scholarships and free ships to students from different Govt. and Non. Govt. agencies

·         The scholarship notifications are circulated to class groups through class tutors on time and ensures the verification and approval of the application within the stipulated time.

·         Scholarships/ Free ships are provided to the academically meritorious students and economically disadvantaged students.

·         Awards and scholarships are provided to the students who excel in fine arts, sports and other co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

·         To expand the number of beneficiaries of scholarships and Free ships, the scholarship cell and the college take measures to get the support of the PTA, Alumni and departments.

·         Fee waiver and conveyance free ships are availed to the financially disadvantaged students.

·         Each department has to ensure the distribution of Edu Care free ships in each academic year- One for UG Department and two for PG Departments.
