Women Cell

The Women Cell of KAHM Unity Women’s College, sanctioned by Kerala State Women Development Corporation (KSWDC), provides a forum for the intellectual enrichment and upliftment of the students. It aims to empower and orient students to recognize their true potential and help them attain strength to set their marks in this competing world. The cell functions arduously to enhance their understanding of issues related to women in the society and to encounter the challenges with great courage. It helps to instil self-esteem, confidence in students and thereby groom them to face all the turbulent times of life with their head high. The objectives of cell include spreading awareness among the students about the social, legal, and constitutional rights of women in order to prevent the exploitation based on gender, eliminating deep rooted beliefs of gender bias and discrimination, to develop skills among the students by means of workshops and training programmes for their overall personality development as well as for the encouragement of self-reliance among them. The vision of cell is to empower women in all spheres of life, enabling them to become agents of social and economic change and inculcating ethical values for the betterment of self, family, and society. Women cell provides a platform for discussions and deliberation on a range of issues. Apart from this, pre-marital counselling, seminars on women related topics, interaction with eminent personalities, several competitions, various skill development programmes, legal awareness classes and self defense classes are conducted as a part of cell activities. Thus, the cell helps to explore, design, and implement ways to bring about change in the society and to create a better and just society by empowering women.
