International Day of Older Persons

On October 1, 2023, the NSS units 171 and 008 of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, actively participated in the Vridhi-2023 program, celebrating the International Day of Older Persons, organized by the Social Justice Department in the Malappuram district.This event took place at the Municipal Town Hall in Manjeri,

The International Day of Older Persons is an occasion to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of our elderly citizens to our society. This year’s event was particularly special, as it brought together a diverse group of older individuals who showcased their remarkable talents on stage, including singing and dancing performances. These displays of talent were not only entertaining but also served as a testament to the vibrant spirit of our senior community. Beyond the entertainment aspect, Vridhi-2023 had a profound impact on promoting, stimulating, and nurturing the capacities and abilities of our elderly population. The NSS units are proud to have been a part of this meaningful event and look forward to continuing their efforts in promoting the welfare and dignity of older persons in our community. Malappuram: An Elderly Day event was organized in the district, hosted by the District Social Justice Department. This event, named “Vriddhi – 2023,” was conducted in collaboration with the Maintenance Tribunal, Jilla Panchayat, and Manjeri Municipality.

The event was inaugurated by Adv. UA Latheef MLA. District Panchayat President MK Rafekha presided over the function. The program featured various art performances by senior citizens and dance performances by NSS Volunteers of our Unity college .Municipality Chairperson V.M. Zubaidah delivered a message on this special day dedicated to the elderly.

During the event, TK Hamsa, Gauri Teacher, MC Muhammad Haji, Trikulam Krishnan Kutty, and others were honored. Additionally, a free medical camp was organized for the elderly as part of the program. District Panchayat Standing Committee chairpersons NA Karim, Sarina Haseeb, Naseeba Aziz Alipata Jamila, Mancheri Municipal Standing Committee chairpersons LC Teacher, Abdul Nasr TM, Sakina C, Marunnan Muhammad, Ward Councilor Prema Rajeev, State Elderly Committee Member Vijayalakshmi, District Elderly Committee Member MS Sivaraman, District Probation Officer Sameer Machingal, Vayomithram District Coordinator Jisho James, and others addressed the gathering. The event commenced with a warm welcome from District Social Justice Officer Sheeba Mumtaz CK, and VV Satidevi delivered the vote of thanks.
